Baggage
- 'Checked Baggage' is any item accepted for carriage in the aircraft hold, including but not limited to suitcases, baby buggies, infant travel cots, car seats, rucksacks, tents and any mobility equipment such as, wheelchairs, scooters and walking frames. Large sports equipment and musical instruments are subject to separate charges and restrictions - see below.
- A Baggage Fee is charged for the carriage of each item of Checked Baggage. The Baggage Fee may be prepaid at the current discounted rate of 4.50/£3.50 per passenger/per one way flight when making your reservation. If the Baggage Fee is paid after you have made your booking either at the airport, or through a Ryanair call centre, the full rate of £7/10 passenger/per one way flight is charged. Baby buggies, wheelchairs, scooters and walking frames are carried free of charge.
- The Checked Baggage allowance is 15kg per person. There is no baggage allowance for infants, although a pram/buggy will be carried free of charge. Each Passenger may check-in up to 5 items of checked baggage, up to the checked baggage allowance per person (a Baggage Fee is charged for each item of checked baggage).
- Passengers may not use the unused checked baggage allowance of other passengers. No pooling/sharing of the checked baggage allowance is permitted, even within a party travelling on the same Confirmation Number.
- One item of hand baggage per person, weighing no more than 10kg and with dimensions of less than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, may be carried into the aircraft cabin (restrictions apply from certain countries) Click here for details.
- Any passenger checking in baggage exceeding their checked baggage allowance (per person) will be charged an excess baggage fee currently at a rate of £5.50/8 per kilo (or local currency equivalent).
- For health and safety reasons Ryanair does not accept for carriage any individual item exceeding 32 kilos or with combined dimensions of more than 81cms (height), 119cms (width) and 119cms (depth). This weight limit does not apply to mobility equipment.
- See paragraph below headed 'Prohibited Articles' for items not permitted in the cabin and/or aircraft hold.
Airport Check-In
- Standard opening of check-in desks is 2 hours prior to scheduled time of departure.
- Ryanair recommends that passengers check in two hours prior to scheduled departure. Check-in desks close strictly 40 minutes before scheduled departure. We reserve the right to cancel your reservation and deny you boarding if you do not comply with the Check-in Deadline.
Online Check-In/Priority Boarding (Check N'Go)
- Online Check-in/Priority boarding can be purchased by qualifying passengers for £2/3 (per passenger/per one way flight).
- Each passenger must present a valid EU/EEA issued passport or a valid Government issued National Identity Card issued by a European Economic Area (EEA) country which matches the document details printed on their Check N'Go boarding pass, at both airport security and the departure gate. (See paragraph headed "Documentation" for details of accepted EEA National Identity Cards).
- Any passenger failing to present their printed Check N'Go boarding pass at airport security and the departure gate will be charged a boarding card reissue fee currently at the rate of £13.50/20 per person (or local currency equivalent).
- No checked baggage is permitted when using online check-in (including mobility equipment which must be carried in the hold of the aircraft). Check N'Go passengers can carry one item of hand baggage per passenger, weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. If hand baggage does not fit in the Ryanair Baggage sizer, it will not be allowed on board.
- Hand baggage must contain NO prohibited items
- Passengers using the Check'N Go service arriving at the airport with hand baggage that exceeds the maximum weight and dimensions will be required to check-in their baggage at a charge of £7/10 per item of baggage at the designated check-in desk and will be issued a boarding card at the fee of £13.50/20 (or local currency equivalent). Check-in desks close 40 minutes prior to scheduled flight departure time.
- No further changes to the passenger name, flight date/times/route can take place once a passenger has checked in for a flight on the web.
- We reserve the right to cancel your reservation and to deny you boarding if you do not comply with the above.
- The following passengers cannot use online check in:
- Passengers travelling with checked baggage or on the same reservation as a passenger travelling with checked baggage.
- Children aged between 14-18 years travelling alone.
- Passengers travelling with infants
- Passengers travelling with mobility equipment (including children's buggies)
- Passengers with reduced mobility, blind/visual impaired passengers including those travelling with a sighted companion
- Blind/visual impaired passenger travelling with a guide dog
- Passengers who require special assistance at the airport
- Passengers travelling from Italy to the UK
- Passengers travelling on a passport which is due to expire within 30 days from the date of travel.
- When there are more than 9 passengers booked in a reservation
Boarding
- Ryanair operates a free seating policy, so specific seats cannot be pre-booked. However, we operate a priority boarding system which allows you to choose your own seat on board (for safety reasons emergency exit seats can only be occupied by passengers that are able bodied).
- Online Check-In/Priority Boarding passengers will be boarded onto the aircraft first.
- Passengers who check-in at the airport will then be boarded after the Priority Boarding passengers.
- Reduced mobility/vision impaired passengers will be boarded after general boarding is completed.
- You should be at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Boarding closes 10 minutes prior to departure. Passengers arriving late at the boarding gate will not be accepted for travel. For travel on a later flight, you will be required to purchase a new ticket at the applicable fare. Your valid photo-id and boarding card must be produced at the boarding gate.
Flight cancellations and schedule changes
- If your flight is cancelled or before the date of travel, is rescheduled so as to depart more than three hours before or after the original departure time then you will be entitled to a travel credit or full refund of all monies paid if the alternative flight/s offered are not suitable to you and you do not travel.
- Ryanair does not provide compensation for flights which are delayed or cancelled for reasons beyond Ryanair's control. You may therefore wish to ensure that you have suitable private insurance cover in force to cover such eventualities. Your rights under EU Regulation 261/2004 are unaffected, so in the case of denied boarding, flight cancellation or a delay in excess of two hours you will be provided with a written notice setting out the rules for compensation and assistance in line with such Regulation.
- Passengers who book well in advance should re-check their outward/return flight timings on http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/?val=GB or with a Ryanair reservations centre between 24 and 72 hours prior to departure.
Flight and name changes
- Flight dates, times and routes are changeable subject to availability and upon payment of a discounted change fee per one way flight/per person if made on www.ryanair.com of £17/25 or a standard change fee of £30/45 per passenger/per one way flight if made through a Ryanair reservation centre, plus in each case any difference in cost between the original total price paid and the lowest total price available at the time the change is made. If the total price is lower on the new flight, no refund will be made. Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 12 hours prior to the originally scheduled departure time of your outbound journey on http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/?val=GB or up to 4 hours prior to such time through a Ryanair reservation centre (subject to centre opening hours). 'Internet/Web only' fares are not available for any changes made through a reservation centre. No changes can be made once check-in has taken place.
- Passenger names can be changed up to 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure through a Ryanair reservation centre only (subject to opening hours) and upon payment of a per person name change fee of £70 and 100. Any name change made to a flight reservation must be for that individual passengers complete flight itinerary
- ELV cannot be accepted, on line, as payment for flight or name changes. Passengers wishing to pay for a change a flight or name change using ELV should contact the German reservations department on 0190 170 100 (calls cost 0.62 per minute). ELV payments can only be accepted up to 10 days prior to the flight departure. Web fares/discounts apply.
Reduced mobility, blind/vision impaired, or Passengers requiring special assistance in the airport
- For safety reasons Ryanair can carry only a maximum of four passengers per flight who have either reduced mobility, or are blind/visually impaired travelling with a guide dog or alone or require special assistance at the airport. Such passengers (including in the case of those who are blind/vision impaired if travelling with a sighted companion) must notify Ryanair of their condition/requirements on the day of booking via your local Ryanair call centre. Failure to notify us on such day will result in the service being unavailable on your arrival at the airport and your being refused carriage.
Checked Baggage Requirements
- You must identify your Checked Baggage with your name and address and contact telephone numbers and/or your flight confirmation number. Failure to comply with this simple requirement may result in a significant delay in the tracing of your checked baggage should it become misplaced.
- If an item of your Checked Baggage is reported lost by you and cannot be found within 21 days, it shall be presumed to be lost.
- Ryanair does not accept responsibility for unsuitably packed, perishable, damaged, or fragile baggage or for minor damage to the exterior of baggage (e.g. scratches, stains, soiling, dents).
- Sporting equipment including but not limited to large fishing rods, golf clubs, bicycles, scooters, fencing equipment, surfboards, bodyboards, snowboards and skis and large musical instruments including but not limited to harps, double bass, guitars and drums are inherently unsuitable for carriage by airlines operating fast turnarounds such as Ryanair. However these items may be carried in the hold of the aircraft upon payment of an additional charge of £15.50/22.50 per item, per one way flight via http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/?val=GB or £20.50/30 per item, per one way flight at the airport ticket desk or through a Ryanair call centre.
- Smaller musical items such as a guitar, cello, violin or viola which exceed our cabin baggage dimensions may be carried in the cabin if a seat for it has been reserved and the appropriate fare paid. There is no baggage allowance associated with the purchase of an extra seat.
Documentation
- It is the passenger's personal responsibility to ensure that they have valid documentation which meets the requirements of Ryanair, immigration and other governmental authorities at every destination. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of breach of this requirement shall be paid by or charged to you. In order to ensure compliance Ryanair recommends that you carry your valid passport (and visa if applicable) on all journeys.
N.B. Passengers travelling to non EU countries must ensure that they meet the immigration entry requirements for that country.
- All passengers must present valid photo identification at check-in for all flights. The only acceptable forms of photo-ID on Ryanair flights are:
- A valid passport.
- A valid Government issued National Identity Card issued by a European Economic Area (EEA) country. Only the following countries from the EEA issue National Identity Cards which are acceptable for carriage: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden (for travel within the Schengen area only) and Switzerland.
- National Identity Cards issued by the Government of Gibraltar.
- A valid driving licence with photo is acceptable only for travel on internal flights within the UK, internal flights within Italy and UK-Republic of Ireland-UK.
- In accordance with Article 28(1) of the 1951 UN Convention, a valid UN Refugee Convention Travel Document issued by a Government in place of a valid passport is acceptable.
- N.B. Children under 16 years (including infants) travelling with an adult are required to have photo-ID when travelling on flights between European Economic Area (EEA) countries. Acceptable photo-ID for children under 16 is either a valid passport or a valid National Identity Card issued by an EEA country.
Photo-ID for children under 16 years is not required in the following circumstances:
- Children travelling with an adult on UK domestic flights and UK-Republic of Ireland-UK routes.
- Children included on the passport of the parent with whom they are travelling.
- German children under 10 in possession of a valid German Government Kinderausweis travel document.
- Italian children in possession of a valid Certificato Di Nascita which has been endorsed as "VALIDO PER L'ESPATRIO" valid for travel and signed by "IL QUESTORE" subject to acceptance for entry to your destination.
- Residence cards, family books or military id cards will not be accepted for travel in place of the required valid photo-ID detailed above.
- Expired or damaged forms of photo-ID will not be accepted for any flight.
- Failure to present valid photo-ID matching the names on your reservation will result in your being refused check-in.
Children and infants
- See paragraph headed "Documentation" for photo-id requirements for children and infants.
- Ryanair does not carry unaccompanied minors (under 14 years). Escort and special facilities are NOT available. Ryanair will carry unaccompanied minors aged 14 or 15 years ONLY upon completion and signature of a Form of Indemnity at check-in of EACH departure airport, by a parent or guardian.
- Children under the age of 14 years must always be accompanied on the same reservation by a passenger over 16 years.
- Unaccompanied minors aged 14 or 15 years travelling must present the required valid photo-id at check-in. The parent or guardian of the unaccompanied minors, are required to remain in the airport until the flight has departed.
- For safety reasons infants under the age of 8 days cannot be accepted for travel. Children aged between 8 days and 2 years as at date of travel cannot travel in their own seat and must sit on an adult's lap. The charge for carriage of infants is £7/10 (or local currency equivalent) per infant/per one way flight (maximum one infant per adult). No baby/car seats are allowed in the cabin of the aircraft. No extra seats may be booked for infants. Infants do not qualify for any baggage allowance. If the infant reaches the age of 2 years prior to the return journey they must pay the applicable fare, taxes, fees and charges for that part of the journey. Proof of age may be required so please have the infant's valid photo-id available for inspection (or birth certificate if traveling on a route that does not require valid photo-id i.e. Ireland-UK Ireland, UK domestic or Italian domestic flights).
- Spanish/French resident children under the age of 18 who are travelling without their parents/legal guardians on a valid national identity card on flights between European Economic Area (EEA) countries must have a form (collected from their local police station) of written authorisation to travel from their parents. This form will need to be presented at the check-in desk and passport control. They will be unable to board the flight without this form.
- Portuguese routes: Portuguese nationals and alien residents under 18 years leaving or re-entering Portugal unaccompanied by their father, mother or legal guardian need a travel authorisation signed by the father, mother or legal guardian with the signature notarised if the father, mother or legal guardian reside in Portugal; or authenticated by a Portuguese embassy or consulate in the country where the father, mother or legal guardian reside. This travel authorisation is also required when minors are accompanied by a person other than their father, mother or legal guardian. In such cases the travel authorisation must also clearly show the name of the accompanying person. Foreign minors under 18 years and traveling alone may be refused entry if they do not have anyone in Portugal taking responsibility for their stay.
- All Latvian children under 18 travelling without their parent or guardian must provide the following at check-in: - A valid passport and their birth certificate along with written permission from their parents or guardian which must be co-signed by a solicitor confirming that they consent to the child travelling without them.
Smoking and beverages
- You may not smoke in any part of an aircraft operated by Ryanair. Failure to adhere to this regulation may result in severe criminal penalties being brought against you as well as disruption costs being claimed against you by Ryanair.
- Any passenger who attempts to smoke on a Ryanair flight will be refused carriage with Ryanair in the future.
- Passengers are prohibited from consuming their own alcohol on board.
- In the interest of safety passengers are prohibited from carrying hot drinks on board.
Mobile phones etc
- Mobile Phones and Personal Electronic Devices ('PEDs') equipped with wireless phone connections may be carried only in cabin baggage but must be switched off once the aircraft doors are closed for departure. These items must not be used during flight.
Medical syringes
- If for medical reasons, passengers need to inject themselves during the flight (e.g. diabetics) they are permitted to carry syringes in the cabin. They will be asked to produce appropriate medical evidence (a doctor's letter will suffice) when they check in or at security screenings. This should be kept with them at all times.
'Point-to-Point' Airline
- Ryanair is strictly a 'point-to-point' airline. We therefore do not offer, and cannot facilitate, the transfer of passengers or their baggage to other flights, whether operated by Ryanair or other carriers. You should therefore not book onward flights with Ryanair or indeed with any other air or surface carrier.
Car hire
- Hertz Car Rental booked through Ryanair Reservation Centres, includes unlimited mileage, tax, collision damage waiver, theft protection & road tax. Not Included: Airport Fee, Vehicle Licensing Fee, One-way drop off charge (where applicable), fuel, damage excess and other additional charges e.g. extra driver, child/infant seat, personal accident insurance etc.
- IMPORTANT: Driver's must be over 25 years of age and hold a complete and full (not provisional) valid driver's licence, held for a minimum of 1 year (endorsements must be advised prior to booking) and a credit card in the name of the lead driver must be produced to Hertz upon collection of the vehicle to cover any insurance excess and miscellaneous costs (e.g. fuel). A £30/48.00 (or local currency equivalent) cancellation fee applies.
Contact
- E-mail contact will be made with passengers via the e-mail address provided at the time of reservation in respect of any schedule change or cancellation to flight itineraries. Evidence of e-mail dispatch will be accepted as evidence of receipt.
- If you have not provided Ryanair with a valid e-mail address, you should re-check your outward/return flight timings on http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/?val=GB or with a Ryanair Reservations Centre between 24 and 72 hours prior to departure.
- Complaints/Claims will only be accepted by mail and written in the English language. Passengers are advised to submit copies only, as original documentation will not be returned.

VAT/IVA
- No VAT/IVA applies on fares or fees relating to International journeys, however, prices shown for fares and related fees are subject to IVA on Italian Domestic Routes at the applicable Italian Government rates. A VAT receipt will be automatically forwarded for all Domestic Italian flight bookings.
- An invoice for bookings relating to Italian domestic flights may only be requested through a Ryanair reservation centre (subject to centre opening hours) within 24 hours of making your booking and your providing the following details:
- Name of the person or company name in booking
- Residence or domicile address
- Fiscal code or Vat number
- Invoice delivery address if different from the fiscal domicile
ATOL Information
- Flights booked directly from an airline are not ATOL protected, even if you book accommodation from another company via a link accessed from an airline website. If you make payment by credit card it can provide financial protection: please check with your credit card provider for details. If you do not pay for your flight by credit card, you may wish to take out a travel insurance policy that includes scheduled airline failure cover.
